Steering Column Telescopic Motor: Installation

  1. On both sides. Apply grease (supplied with the new motor) to the trunnion nut axles and the telescopic motor lead-screw housing holes.

  2. Rotate the trunnion nut until the correct length is achieved to align the lead-screw housing with the threaded holes in the support arm.

  3. Install the telescopic motor.

    1. Position the telescopic motor and install the telescopic motor retainers.

      Torque: 124 lb.in (14 Nm)

    2. Install the trunnion retainers.

      Torque: 124 lb.in (14 Nm)

  4. Install the steering column. Refer to: Steering Column 
  5. If equipped with memory steering column, use the steering column control switch and set the telescopic motor soft stops as follows.

    1. Move the column outward until it reaches the end of travel.
    2. Move the column in the same direction until it reaches the end of travel again.
    3. Move the column inward until it reaches the end of travel.
    4. Move the column in the same direction until it reaches the end of travel again.
