Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
With the ignition ON, the VDM sends messages to the ABS module the over the CAN. If the ABS module does not receive these messages within a certain time frame, the module sets one or more Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). This can be due to an VDM failure, a circuit failure on the network or an excessive load on the network.
