Cylinder Block Core Plug Replacement

Special Tool(s) / General Equipment 

Lint-Free Towel

Materials

Thread Locking Adhesive -
Brake Cleaner -

Repair 

NOTE: Cylinder block core plug shown in the illustration below, cylinder head core plug similar.
  1. Clean the cup plug contour using air.

  2. Clean the surface area shown in the illustration below with brake cleaner and air dry.

    Material: Brake Cleaner

  3. NOTE: Do not touch the metal surface with the tip of the bottle.

    Apply loctite around the interface between the cup plug and housing.

    Material: Thread Locking Adhesive

  4. Loctite must be seen all around the cup plug circumference.

  5. Using a lint free towel remove any excess or spot faces found without removing the loctite from the cup plug. Use the General Equipment: Lint-Free Towel

  6. Let the loctite cure for 24 hours without engine operation.

  7. Start the vehicle and inspect for leaks.

  8. If no leaks detected and the cup plug is sealed successfully mark above the cup plug.
