Section 23 (Power-Assisted Steering System): Diagnosis: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Since the problems in steering, suspension, wheels and tires involve several systems, they must all be considered when diagnosing a complaint. To identify the condition, always road test the vehicle first. Proceed with the following preliminary inspections and correct any defects which are found.
- Inspect tires for proper pressure and uneven wear.
- Raise vehicle on a hoist, then inspect front and rear suspension and steering linkage for loose or damaged parts.
- Spin the front wheels. Inspect for out-of-round tires, out-of-balance tires, loose and/or rough hub unit bearings.
