Test TC-15A - Speed Control Solenoid Circuits Or Speed Control Power Relay Circuits
NOTE:
For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION DIRECTORY. For component location, see wiring diagram in the appropriate WIRING DIAGRAMS
article. See following list.
- 4.0L, see: WIRING DIAGRAMS - 4.0L 6-CYL .
- 5.2L, see: WIRING DIAGRAMS - 5.2L V8 .
- Using scan tool, read, record and clear DTCs. Start engine. Using scan tool, monitor Speed Control (S/C) ON/OFF SWITCH STATE while switching S/C on and off. If scan tool display switches ON then OFF, perform TEST TC-15B . If scan tool display does not switch ON then OFF, go to next step.
- Disconnect S/C connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance across specified S/C switch terminals. See Fig 1. If resistance is not as specified, replace S/C switch and perform verification TEST VER-4A . See SPEED CONTROL SWITCH RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.SPEED CONTROL SWITCH RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

Inspect connector and terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary and perform TEST VER-4A . If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, actuate S/C vent solenoid. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on S/C servo 4-pin connector, switched S/C power supply circuit (Dark Blue/Light Green wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, perform TEST TC-15B . If voltage is 10 volts or less, perform TEST TC-15C .
