Anti-Lock Brake System: Description
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) controls the wheel cylinder hydraulic pressure of all 4 wheels during sudden braking and braking on slippery road surfaces, preventing wheels from locking.
The ABS system helps maintain directional stability and steering control on most road conditions. However, the system cannot prevent vehicle from skidding if the cornering speed limit is exceeded. ABS system is composed of wheel speed sensors, sensor rotors, ABS warning light, ABS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and ABS actuator. See Figure.
