Steering Column: Reassembly

  1. Install a new O-ring to the thrust stopper. Install the thrust stopper and snap ring. See Figure.
  2. Using snap ring pliers, install the snap ring in the lower groove of the main shaft. See Figure.
  3. Apply molybdenum disulphide lithium base grease to the thrust stopper. Insert the main shaft into the column tube. Using Snap ring pliers, install the snap ring. See Figure. Install the two thrust stopper set bolts. See Fig 1.

  4. Install upper bracket to column tube. Install the upper bracket with two new tapered head bolts. Tighten the tapered head bolts until the bolt heads break off. See Fig 2.
