Cruise Control Switch Check

  1. Remove steering wheel pad. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Disconnect cruise control switch 5-pin connector. Use an ohmmeter to check resistance between terminal Nos. 3 and 4. See Figure.
  2. With cruise control switch not activated (neutral position), resistance should be infinite (no continuity). If code 34 is displayed, carefully ensure resistance is infinite in neutral position, especially when switching between RES/ACC and SET/COAST positions.
  3. With switch in RES/ACC position, resistance should be about 70 ohms. With switch in SET/COAST position, resistance should be about 200 ohms. With switch in CANCEL position, resistance should be about 420 ohms. If resistance is correct, go to WIRING HARNESS. If resistance is incorrect, replace cruise control switch.
