Electronically Controlled Transmission Communication Circuit: Notes
To reduce shifting due to on/off overdrive operation and to provide smooth driving, when down shifting in Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT) occurs, a signal is sent from cruise control ECU to engine/transmission ECU to prevent upshift when driving uphill with cruise control on.
ECT terminal of the cruise control ECU detects shift change signal (output to ECT solenoid No. 2) from engine/transmission ECU. When cruise control ECU receives this signal, it sends a signal from the overdrive terminal to engine/transmission ECU to cut overdrive and torque converter lock-up until the end of the uphill climb. Gear shifts are also reduced and gear shift points in the ECT are changed.
