Fuel Gauge Test
- Disconnect harness connector from fuel gauge sending unit. Turn ignition on. Fuel gauge should indicate "E". Turn ignition off. Connect a 3.4-watt test bulb to fuel gauge sender connector terminals No. 3 and 4 (ES300) or terminals No. 2 and 3 (LS400, SC300 and SC400). See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . Turn ignition on.
- Test bulb should light and fuel gauge needle should move toward "F" mark. If operation is not as specified, check fuel gauge resistance. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between specified terminals. See FUEL GAUGE RESISTANCE TEST table. See Figure, Figure, or Figure .
NOTE:
Fuel gauge needle may take a few moments to stabilize.
