Hydraulic Cooling Fan System
- Cooling fan ECU controls hydraulic pressure acting on hydraulic motor, controlling speed of cooling fan in response to engine and air conditioner.
- Hydraulic pump is driven by a drive belt. On some models, hydraulic pump may be integral with power steering pump. Solenoid valve adjusts volume of oil sent from hydraulic pump to hydraulic motor which drives fan directly, controlling fan speed. Oil is cooled by an oil cooler before returning to reservoir tank. Solenoid valve is controlled by cooling fan ECU in response to engine RPM, coolant temperature and A/C signals.
