Starter Relay Circuit Test

NOTE: BEFORE checking starter relay circuit of theft deterrent system, unlock driver's door with key to cancel starter cutout.
  1. Disconnect theft deterrent ECU connectors. On ES300, theft deterrent ECU is located behind glove box. Theft deterrent ECU is located above driver's side kick panel.
  2. Place shift lever in Neutral or depress clutch pedal. Measure voltage between terminal SRLY of theft deterrent ECU wiring harness connector and body ground while turning ignition switch to ST (start) position. See Fig 1.
  3. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, check and repair harness/connections between starter relay and theft deterrent ECU. If voltage is 10-14 volts and starter relay circuit is still inoperative, test and replace theft deterrent ECU.
