Dashpot (ES300, LS400 & SC400)

  1. Start engine, and warm it to operating temperature. Ensure idle speed is 650-750 RPM. Remove cap, filter and separator from dashpot. Increase engine speed, and hold at 2500 RPM.
  2. Plug small hole in back of dashpot using finger. Release throttle. When throttle is released, engine speed with cooling fan off should be 2000 RPM (ES300) or 1500 RPM (LS400 & SC400).
  3. If necessary, adjust dashpot. When installing separator, filter and cap, install filter with coarse side facing outside.
  4. On ES300, to check throttle opener, warm engine to normal operating temperature. Ensure idle speed is 650-750 RPM. Disconnect vacuum hose from throttle opener, and plug hose end. If throttle opener setting speed is not 900-1950 RPM (ES300) or 1000-1400 RPM (LS400), replace throttle body.
