Abs Light Diagnostics
- Ensure battery voltage is at least 12 volts. Turn ignition on. ABS light should illuminate and then go out after 3 seconds. If warning light does not illuminate, check fuse, bulb and wiring harness.
- With ignition on, disconnect short pin from Data Link Connector No. 1 (DLC1). See Fig 1. DLC1 is located in engine compartment. Using a jumper wire, connect terminals Tc and E1 of Data Link Connector No. 1 (DLC1) or Data Link Connector No. 2 (DLC2). See Figure or Figure . DLC2 is located under left side of instrument panel, near kick panel.
- If a malfunction is detected, ABS light will begin to flash a 2-digit Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) after 4 seconds. ABS light will flash first digit, followed by a 1.5-second pause and then second digit.
- Count number of flashes to obtain digits of 2-digit code. If 2 or more codes are stored, a 2.5-second pause will separate codes. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES table for code diagnosis. See appropriate chart under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- If ABS is functioning properly, 2 seconds will elapse, and then ABS light will blink once every .25 second.
- After replacing or repairing malfunctioning components, clear diagnostic trouble codes. If battery cable was disconnected during repairs, all codes will be erased. If battery cable was not disconnected during repairs, see CLEARING CODES under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
