Resistance Test

Disconnect EGR valve connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  under INTRODUCTION. Measure resistance between terminal B1 and terminals S1-S4, and between terminal B2 and terminals S1-S4. See Figure. If resistance is not 19.9-23.4 ohms, replace EGR valve. If resistance is 19.9-23.4 ohms, check EGR valve operation.

CAUTION: When checking EGR valve operation, DO NOT  apply battery voltage across terminals for more than a few seconds. Read the following procedure before performing it, as it contains a grounding sequence that must be followed exactly as specified.
