Accessing Diagnostic Codes

  1. Ensure battery voltage is at least 12 volts. Turn ignition on. The TRAC indicator light should go on for 3 seconds.
  2. Turn ignition on. Remove short pin from Data Link Connector 1 (DLC1). See Fig 1 or Fig 2. Using a jumper wire, jumper DLC2 terminals Tc and E1. If a malfunction is detected, 4 seconds will elapse and ABS light will begin to flash a 2-digit code. First series of blinks will equal first digit in a code. After a 1.5-second pause, second series of blinks will equal second digit in a code.
  3. If 2 or more codes are stored, there will be a 2.5-second pause between each code. After all codes are flashed, there will be a 4 second pause and all codes will repeat. If TRAC system is functioning properly, TRAC light will blink 2 times per second. For code definitions, see DIAGNOSTIC CODES. For diagnostic flow charts, see DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
  4. After replacing or repairing components, clear diagnostic codes. If a battery cable was disconnected during repairs, all stored codes will be erased. If battery cable was not disconnected during repairs, see CLEARING CODES.
