Cold Start Injector: Removal

  1. Relieve fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Remove throttle body cover. Remove air cleaner with airflow meter.
  2. Disconnect throttle cables from throttle body. Disconnect air hoses from Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and power steering air control valve. Remove throttle body air duct hose. Remove high tension wire upper cover. See Figure. Remove both engine wire harness covers.
  3. Mark and disconnect vacuum hoses and wiring harness connectors as necessary. Remove right and left No. 3 timing belt covers. Remove high tension wire lower cover. Disconnect coolant hose from heater valve. Disconnect by-pass hoses from Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and throttle body. Remove PCV hose from throttle body. Remove throttle body and gasket.
  4. Disconnect brake booster hose from intake chamber. Remove throttle cable bracket. Disconnect cold start injector fuel delivery pipe. Disconnect EGR pipe from air intake chamber, and remove gasket. Disconnect Data Link Connector (DLC) bracket from air intake chamber.
  5. Remove 4 bolts, 8 nuts and air intake chamber. Disconnect cold start injector connector. Remove banjo bolt, cold start injector tube and 2 gaskets. Remove 2 bolts, cold start injector and gasket.
