Fuel Rails & Injectors: Removal
- Relieve fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Disconnect throttle cable(s) from throttle body. Disconnect PCV hose. Loosen clamps and remove air cleaner hose.
- Remove "V" bank cover. See Fig 1. Label and disconnect vac uum hoses and wiring harness connectors as necessary. Remove emission control valve set. Remove No. 2 EGR pipe and gaskets. Remove hydraulic motor pressure pipe.
- Disconnect 2 ground straps. Disconnect brake booster vacuum hose and power steering air hose. Remove water by-pass hose from throttle body. Disconnect remaining connectors and hoses as necessary.
- Remove engine hanger. Remove bolt, and disconnect air intake chamber stay from chamber. Remove 2 bolts, nuts, air intake chamber and gasket. Disconnect 6 injector connectors. Disconnect wire harness from fuel rails.
- Disconnect fuel return hose from fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect fuel inlet hose from fuel filter. Remove 2 banjo bolts, 4 gaskets and fuel pipe. Remove fuel rails and injectors as an assembly. Pull injectors from fuel rail using a slight twisting motion.
