Test Drive Confirmation

  1. Connect scan tester to Data Link Connector (DLC) No. 3. See Figure. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Operate vehicle at 43-56 MPH for 3 minutes or more. Stop vehicle and allow to idle for about 2 minutes. Turn ignition off.
  2. Start engine and allow to idle. Operate vehicle at 43-56 MPH for 3 minutes or more. Stop vehicle and allow to idle for about 2 minutes.
  3. Check READINESS TESTS mode on scan tester (may also be known as I/M FLAG). If COMPL is displayed on scan tester and MIL is not illuminated, system is normal. If INCPL is displayed and MIL is not illuminated, repeat test drive procedure.
