Test 8: Tachometer Inoperative

  1. Disconnect instrument panel connectors "A", "B" and "C". Start engine. Check voltage between connector "B" terminal No. 3 andNo. 6. If voltage fluctuates, go to next step. If voltage does not fluctuate, repair wiring between connector "B" terminal No. 3 and igniter.
  2. Remove power source unit. Check continuity of instrument panel printed circuit. See Fig 1. Continuity should exist between A and c11, B and c8, C and c9. Replace instrument panel printed circuit if continuity does not exist. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  3. Check power source unit. Continuity should exist between B1 and c11, B5 and c9. Resistance should be 3300 ohms between B3 and c8. If resistance is okay, replace tachometer. If resistance is not as specified, replace power source unit.
