With Or Without Memory

  1. Turn ignition on. Ensure "P" lights up on instrument panel indicating transmission position is in Park. If "P" is not illuminated on instrument panel, repair shift position indicator. If "P" is illuminated on instrument panel, go to next step.
  2. Remove tilt and telescopic control module and leave harness connectors connected. Turn ignition on. On vehicles without memory, measure voltage between tilt and telescopic control module connector T9, terminal No. 10 and ground. On vehicles with memory, measure voltage between tilt and telescopic control module connector T9, terminal No. 14 and ground. See Figure and Figure .
  3. On all models, voltage should be 10-16 volts with transmission in "P" position. Voltage should be less than one volt with transmission in any other position. If voltage is as specified, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING  and identify next circuit to be checked. If voltage is not as specified, check for open in Green/Yellow wire between tilt and telescopic control module and park/neutral safety switch connector.
