Retrieving Codes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Lexus SC 400. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition on. Turn cruise main switch on. If CRUISE indicator light comes on, leave ignition on and go to next step. If CRUISE indicator light does not come on, check cruise indicator light circuit. See TEST 12 under CIRCUIT TESTS .
  2. To retrieve codes, turn cruise main switch off. Connect Jumper Wire (09843-18020) between terminals Tc and E1 of Data Link Connector (DLC) No. 2, located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure. Observe CRUISE indicator light to see if any codes are displayed. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) DEFINITION  table.

    • CRUISE Light Does Not Come On

      See TEST 11 under CIRCUIT TESTS .
    • CRUISE Light Flashes Steadily

      No codes set ("normal" code).
    • CRUISE Light Flashes Codes(s)

      Go to appropriate code under DTC TESTS .

When finished, disconnect jumper wire and turn ignition off.
