Test 12: Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Problem

  1. Check continuity between sending unit body and engine block. Replace sending unit if continuity does not exist. If continuity exists, check engine coolant temperature gauge. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as needed.
  2. Disconnect instrument panel connector "A" and "B". Check continuity between connector "B" terminal No. 3 and ground. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring between connector "B" terminal No. 3 and gauge. Check continuity between connector "A" terminal No. 10 and ground. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring between connector "A" terminal No. 10 and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  3. Check gauge resistance. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as needed. If gauge resistance is okay, replace circuit plate and retest.
