Fuel Level Warning Light System

  1. Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit connector. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 3 (Brown wire) of harness connector. See Figure.
  2. If fuel level warning light illuminates, go to next step. If warning light does not illuminate, check bulb. If bulb is okay, check wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Remove fuel gauge sending unit. Connect a 3.4-watt test light between battery positive terminal and sending unit connector terminal No. 1. Connect negative battery terminal to terminal No. 3 of fuel gauge sending unit connector.
  4. Test light should come on after a few moments. Submerge entire sending unit (or fuel level sensor portion) in a container of fuel. Test light should go out. If operation is not as specified, replace sending unit.
