Test No. 13

  1. Check Door Lock Relay

    There is a door lock relay for the unlock side and a door lock relay for the lock side. Door lock relays are located in driver's side fuse/relay box located near driver's side kick panel. See Figure. The door lock relays may be marked as D/L (L) and D/L (U) on the fuse relay box.
  2. Check operation of door lock relays. See POWER DOOR LOCKS article. If door lock relay operates properly, go to next step. If door lock relay is defective, replace door lock relay.

  3. Check Door Lock Motor

    Check operation of door lock motor. See POWER DOOR LOCKS article. If door lock motor operates properly, go to next step. If door lock motor is defective, replace door lock motor.

  4. Check Door Lock Motor Wiring

    Check for defective connectors and wiring between door lock motor, door lock relays and instrument panel Electronic Control Unit (ECU). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Instrument panel ECU is located behind center of instrument panel and contains a 14-pin, 18-pin and 22-pin electrical connector. See Figure.
  5. If connectors and wiring are okay, go to the next test listed. See appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING . If connectors or wiring are defective, repair as necessary.
