Test No. 14

NOTE: Door unlock detection switch is incorporated into the door lock motor assembly. Door unlock detection switch is in ON position when door lock knob is in the unlock position, and OFF when door lock knob is in lock position. Instrument panel Electronic Control Unit (ECU) determines door lock knob position by using input signal from door unlock detection switch.

  1. Check Door Unlock Detection Switch

    Check operation of door unlock detection switch. See DOOR UNLOCK DETECTION SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If door unlock detection switch operates properly, go to next step. If door unlock detection switch is defective, replace door unlock detection switch.

  2. Check Door Unlock Detection Switch Wiring

    Check for defective connectors and wiring between door unlock detection switch and instrument panel Electronic Control Unit (ECU). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Instrument panel ECU is located behind center of instrument panel and contains a 14-pin, 18-pin and 22-pin electrical connector. See Figure.
  3. If connectors and wiring are okay, go to the next test listed. See appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING . If connectors or wiring are defective, repair as necessary.
