Test No. 4

NOTE: Instrument panel Electronic Control Unit (ECU) determines position of rear wiper and washer switch by using terminal voltage of the switch. Instrument panel ECU than operates rear wiper motor in accordance with the terminal voltage.

  1. Check Rear Wiper & Washer Switch

    Check operation of rear wiper and washer switch. See WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article. If rear wiper and washer switch operates properly, go to next step. If rear wiper and washer switch is defective, replace switch assembly.
  2. Check Rear Wiper & Washer Wiring

    Check for defective connectors and wiring between rear wiper and washer switch and instrument panel ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Instrument panel ECU is located behind center of instrument panel and contains a 14-pin, 18-pin and 22-pin electrical connector. See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. If connectors and wiring are okay, go to the next test listed. See appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING . If connectors or wiring are defective, repair as necessary.
