Auto Set Switch Circuit

  1. Remove tilt and telescopic control module with connectors connected. With ignition off, measure voltage between tilt and telescopic control module connector (T10), terminals No. 4 (Purple/White wire) and No. 5 (Brown wire). See Figure. With auto set switch on, voltage should be 10-14 volts. With auto set switch off, voltage should be less than one volt. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING and identify next circuit to be checked.
  2. Disconnect combination switch connector. Measure resistance between combination switch connector terminal No. 7 and 8. See Fig 1. With auto set switch on, resistance should be more than one megohm. With auto set switch off, continuity should exist between terminals. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace tilt and telescopic combination switch and retest system.
  3. Check and repair wiring harness and connectors between tilt and telescopic control module and auto set switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. If wiring and connectors are okay, replace tilt and telescopic control module and retest system.
