Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor

ECM applies a reference voltage to ECT sensor, which is a variable resistor. The ECM may use input signal for determining ignition timing (spark advance) and for controlling fuel injection system, overdrive operation on electronically controlled transmissions/transaxles (if equipped), idle speed control system, fuel pressure control system, heated oxygen sensor system and EGR system (if equipped).
