Retrieving Codes: Notes

NOTE: Codes may be retrieved using scan tool. Following procedure is for retrieving cruise control codes without scan tool.
  1. Turn ignition on. Turn cruise main switch on. If CRUISE indicator light comes on, leave ignition on and go to next step. If CRUISE indicator light does not come on, check cruise indicator light circuit. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
  2. To retrieve codes, turn cruise main switch off. Connect Jumper Wire (09843-18020) between terminals Tc and E1 of Data Link Connector (DLC) No. 1 located on top of engine (LS400 and SC400) or on left fender, behind ECM (GS300, GS400 and SC300). See Figure. Observe CRUISE indicator light to see if any codes are displayed. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) DEFINITION  table.
