Telescopic Motor Circuit

  1. Disconnect 6-pin telescopic position sensor connector. Connect battery positive lead to telescopic position sensor connector terminal No. 3 (Blue/Yellow wire) and battery negative lead to sensor connector terminal No. 6 (Blue/Black wire). See Fig 1. Telescopic motor should move column out. Connect battery positive lead to sensor connector terminal No. 6 (Blue/Black wire) and battery negative lead to sensor connector terminal No. 3 (Blue/Yellow wire) (reverse polarity). Telescopic motor should move column in. If telescopic motor operates as specified, go to next step. If telescopic motor does not operate as specified, replace telescopic steering gear assembly with motor and retest system operation.
  2. Check wiring harness and connectors between tilt and telescopic ECU and telescopic motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair or replace as necessary. If wiring harness and connectors are okay, go to next test listed in SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS  table under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
