Description & Operation

The remote keyless entry system allows doors to be locked and unlocked, and luggage compartment to be opened by low-power electrical waves emitted from a hand-held transmitter. Pushing UNLOCK button once will deactivate the theft deterrent system and unlock driver's door. Pushing UNLOCK button again within 3 seconds will unlock the other doors. If doors are not opened within 30 seconds, all the doors will automatically relock.

When key is inserted into ignition key cylinder, the wireless door lock Electronic Control Unit (ECU) will prevent doors and luggage compartment from opening. If after wireless door lock or unlock operation, the door lock condition does not change, the ECU waits 2 seconds and then sends current to door lock motor 3 times. If door lock condition still has not changed, wireless door lock ECU stops signal reception and discontinues door lock and unlock function (door lock motor protective function). Manually operating door locks releases door lock motor protective function.

The wireless door lock ECU is protected by DOME fuse (7.5-amp) located in the engine compartment junction block.
