Master Cylinder Push Rod

  1. Install Adjusting Gauge (SST 09737-00010) onto master cylinder, with 2 master cylinder gaskets in place. Perform STEP 1 in illustration. See Fig 1. Lower adjusting gauge pin until pin just touches master cylinder piston. Invert gauge, then install gauge onto power brake unit. Perform STEP 2 in illustration. See Fig 1.
  2. Measure clearance between push rod and adjusting gauge pin. There should be zero clearance (adjusting gauge pin should just touch push rod). To adjust clearance, hold the push rod with pliers (to prevent push rod from turning) and turn nut with a wrench. Remove one master cylinder gasket and install master cylinder.
