Engine Oil Level Warning Switch

  1. Remove engine oil level warning switch located on right side of engine. Ensure warning switch temperature is less than 122°F (50°C). Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between engine oil level warning switch terminals with float in up and down position. Continuity should be present in all float positions. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace engine oil level warning switch.
  2. Heat switch to above 140°F (60°C) in oil bath. Continuity should be present between switch terminals with float up (switch on). Continuity should not be present with float down (switch off). If continuity is not as specified, replace engine oil level warning switch. If continuity is as specified, check engine oil level warning switch circuit.
