Circuit Description

This system is equipped with a variable speed fuel pump. Fuel pump speed is controlled at 2 speeds (high and low) depending on engine load (starting, idling, light load and heavy load). During engine starting or heavy loads, ECM supplies full battery voltage to fuel pump. Fuel pump will operate at high speed. During engine idling or light loads, ECM supplies voltage through a resistor. Fuel pump will operate at low speed. DTC P1200 is set if PCM detects open or short in fuel pump relay circuit. Possible causes are:

• Open or short in fuel pump relay circuit.
• Faulty Fuel pump relay.
• Faulty ECM.
