Driver's Power Window Inoperative

  1. Lower driver's power window glass. Remove power window master switch (driver's side) and remove connector. Measure voltage between master switch harness connector terminal No. 1 and ground. See Fig 1. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, repair open in harness between terminal No. 1 (Red wire) and 40-amp POWER fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position and measure voltage between master switch harness connector terminal No. 3 and ground. See Fig 1. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, repair open in harness between power main relay terminal No. 3 (Blue wire) and master switch terminal No. 3. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check for continuity between master switch terminal No. 9 and ground. See Fig 1. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open in harness between master switch terminal No. 9 (White/Black wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Connect a jumper wire between 12-volt battery positive terminal and master switch terminal No. 20. See Fig 1. Connect another jumper wire between battery negative terminal and master switch terminal No. 8. Window glass should raise. Reverse polarity on jumper wires. Window glass should lower. If window operation is not as specified, go to next step. If window operation is as specified, replace driver's power window master switch.
  5. Check power window motor operation. See appropriate POWER WINDOW MOTOR TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS. If power window motor operates correctly, go to next step. If power window motor does not operate correctly, replace power window motor.
  6. Check for continuity in Yellow wire between driver's power window switch harness connector terminal No. 20 and power window motor harness connector terminal No. 4. See Fig 1 and Figure . Check for continuity in Green wire between driver's power window switch harness connector terminal No. 8 and power window motor harness connector terminal No. 1. If continuity is present at both points, fault may be intermittent. Check all connectors and terminals for poor connection and retest. If continuity is not present, repair open in appropriate wire and retest. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
