Deceleration Sensor

CAUTION: Do not allow sensor to be turned upside down.
  1. Remove deceleration sensor located under center console, behind shift lever. See Figure. Connect three 1.5 volt dry cell batteries in series. Connect positive battery lead to VGS terminal on deceleration sensor connector. See Fig 1. Connect negative battery lead to GGND terminal.
  2. Using voltmeter, check voltage between sensor terminals GGND and GL1. With sensor in horizontal position, voltage reading should be about 2.3 volts. Lean sensor forward. Voltage reading should be about 0.4-2.3 volts. Lean sensor rearward. Voltage reading should be about 2.3-4.1 volts. Replace deceleration sensor as necessary.
  3. Using voltmeter, check voltage between sensor terminals GGND and GL2. With sensor in horizontal position, voltage reading should be about 2.3 volts. Lean sensor forward. Voltage reading should be about 2.3-4.1 volts. Lean sensor rearward. Voltage reading should be about 0.4-2.3 volts. Replace deceleration sensor as necessary.
