Diagnostic Procedure
- Check ABS warning light operation. Turn ignition on. ABS warning light should illuminate for 2 seconds, then turn off (bulb check). If ABS warning light illuminates, replace ABS ECU. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Check ABS warning light bulb. Replace as necessary. If light bulb is okay, check ABS solenoid relay and circuit. See DTC 11 & 12: ABS SOLENOID RELAY CIRCUIT . Replace solenoid as necessary. If solenoid is okay, go to next step.
- Check circuit in harness connector between DLC1 and ABS solenoid relay and body ground. Ensure ABS ECU connectors are securely installed. Repair as necessary. After repairs or if circuit or connectors are okay, go to next step.
- Check ABS warning light operation. If ABS warning light illuminates, replace ABS ECU. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Attempt to retrieve DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . If DTCs can be retrieved, repair affected DTC(s). If DTCs cannot be retrieved, go to next step.
- Remove short pin from DLC1. Observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning light turns off when short pin is removed, go to next step. If ABS warning light does not turn off when short pin is removed, check for short in harness and connector between warning light and DLC1 and ABS ECU. Repair as necessary.
- Check ABS solenoid relay. See DTC 11 & 12: ABS SOLENOID RELAY CIRCUIT . Replace as necessary. If solenoid is okay, check for short circuit in harness and connector between DLC1 and solenoid. Repair as necessary.
