Telescopic Motor Circuit

  1. Disconnect 6-pin telescopic position sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Connect battery positive lead to telescopic position sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 (Blue/Yellow wire) and battery negative lead to sensor harness connector terminal No. 6 (Blue/Black wire). See Fig 1. Telescopic motor should move column out. Reverse polarity by connecting battery positive lead to terminal No. 6 (Blue/Black wire) and battery negative lead to terminal No. 3 (Blue/Yellow wire) at sensor harness connector. Telescopic motor should move column in. If telescopic motor operates as specified, go to next step. If telescopic motor does not operate as specified, replace telescopic steering gear assembly with motor and retest system operation.
  2. Check wiring harness and connectors between tilt and power telescopic ECU and power telescopic motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair or replace as necessary. If wiring harness and connectors are okay, go to next test listed in SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS  table under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
