Valve Body Assembly: Reassembly

Coat all components with ATF. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Ensure check balls in upper and lower valve body are installed correctly. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
Position NEW No. 1 gasket, plate and NEW No. 2 gasket on upper valve body. Place lower valve body on upper valve body with plate and gaskets. DO NOT let components separate. Align each bolt hole in valve bodies with gaskets and plate.
Install and finger tighten bolts in upper valve body. Ensure proper bolt length is used. See Fig 3. Tighten bolts to 56 INCH lbs. (6.4 N.m). Install oil strainer, pressure relief valve and solenoids (as applicable). Install manual valve and detent spring. Tighten bolts to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m). Ensure manual valve moves freely.
