Park/Neutral Position Switch Circuit
- Turn ignition on. Shift transmission into Park. Ensure "P" illuminates on instrument cluster. If "P" illuminates, go to next step. If "P" does not illuminate, check and repair shift position indicator circuit. See INSTRUMENT PANELS - SC300 & SC400 article.
- Turn ignition off. Remove tilt and power telescopic ECU from its mounting, leaving wiring harness connector attached. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and by backprobing rear of terminal No. 6 (Black/White wire) at 12-pin ECU harness connector T9. See Figure. If battery voltage exists with transmission gear shift selector in Park and voltage is less than one volt with transmission gear shift selector in any other position than Park, go to next test listed in SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS table under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
- Check and repair open wiring harness between tilt and power telescopic ECU and park/neutral position switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
