Description & Operation

Outside power rear view mirrors consist of door-mounted mirrors with internal motor drive and backing plate. Mirrors are controlled by a rocker switch for left or right mirror selection and a platform button for up, down, right and left movement. Mirror switch is located on driver side instrument panel. Mirror motors are integral with mirror assemblies and cannot be serviced separately. Mirror defogger is an integral part of mirror glass. See REAR WINDOW & SIDE MIRROR DEFOGGERS article.

Mirror position can be stored in memory. Position can be recalled by pressing a button on driver's door. Memory mirrors tilt down when transmission is shifted into reverse.

Inside rear view mirror and side mirrors have automatic dimming day/night electrochromatic glass. The electrochromatic mirror uses 2 photocell sensors located in inside mirror to monitor ambient and rear facing light levels. The mirror automatically adjusts its reflectance to reduce headlight glare from vehicles approaching from the rear. The mirror is controlled by a DAY/AUTO switch located on bottom of inside mirror. Mirror will default to AUTO when key is inserted in ignition.

Mirrors can be power retracted and extended. Mirrors retract (fold in) when retract switch on instrument panel is pushed to the right or when ignition switch is turned to LOCK position. Mirrors extend (fold out) when retract switch is pushed to the left or when ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON position.
