Without Hand-Held Sensor

  1. Turn ignition switch off.
  2. Using special tool (09843-18020), jumper between terminals Ts and E1 of (DLC1). See Figure.
  3. Start engine and verify that ABS warning light flashes. If ABS warning light does not flash, inspect ABS warning light circuit and Ts circuit. See TEST D: ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT  and TEST K: TS TERMINAL CIRCUIT  .
  4. Keep vehicle in stationary condition on a flat surface for at least 6 seconds.
  5. Shift transfer lever to L position and turn center differential lock switch to ON. Shift transfer lever back to H.
  6. Leaving vehicle in stationary condition and brake pedal in free condition for one second, continue to depress brake pedal with 22 lb. (10 kg) of force or more for one second or more.
  7. Leaving vehicle in stationary condition, depress brake pedal quickly with at least 221 lb. (100 kg) of force. At this time the ABS warning light comes on for 3 seconds.
  8. Drive vehicle straight forward and at speeds of 28 MPH or more for several seconds. Verify that ABS warning light turns off.
  9. Stop vehicle. Using special tool (09843-18020 or 18040), jumper between terminals Tc and E1 of (DLC1) or Tc and CG of (DLC3). See Figure.
  10. Read flashes of ABS warning light. If every sensor is normal, there is a normal code output (.25 second ON and .25 second OFF). If any DTCs are retrieved see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  11. If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed first.
  12. After doing check, turn ignition switch off and remove special tool.
