Without Hand-Held Tester
- Turn steering wheel to neutral position and turn ignition switch off. Verify that shift lever is at Park position.
- Using special tool (09843-18020), jumper between terminals Ts and E1 of (DLC1). See Figure.
- Start engine and check that VSC warning light flashes. If VSC TRAC warning light does not flash, inspect VSC TRAC warning light circuit and Ts terminal circuit. See TEST N: VSC TRAC WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT and TEST K: TS TERMINAL CIRCUIT .
- Check steering angle sensor by turning steering wheel either to left or right for 450° or more from stationary condition. Turn back to straight ahead.
- Check yaw rate sensor by shifting shift lever to Drive position and drive vehicle at approximately 3 MPH. Turn steering wheel either left or right 90° or more, and maintain 180° circular drive. Do not spin wheels. At end of turn, direction of vehicle should be within 175°-185° of start position.
- Stop vehicle. Shift to Park position and verify that VSC buzzer sounds for 3 seconds. If VSC buzzer sounds, sensor check is completed normally. If VSC buzzer does not sound, perform check again. If buzzer still does not sound, there is a malfunction in VSC sensor. Check for ABS related DTC. See RETRIEVING CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- For DTCs of VSC, see Figure.
- If every sensor is normal, there is a normal code output. See Figure. If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed first.
- After testing is complete, disconnect special tool and turn off ignition switch.
