Instrument Panel Safety Pad Sub-ASSY: Replacement

HINT:

COMPONENTS: See INSTRUMENT PANEL/METER 

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT 

    HINT:

    Indicate the bolts, screws and nuts, which are necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, in the illustration and the text with alphabets.

  2. SHIP MODE SETTING(W/ CD CHANGER) (See REPLACEMENT  ) 
  3. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL  
  4. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2 
  6. REMOVE CONNECTOR COVER 

  7. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY 

  8. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSY 

    (See OVERHAUL  ) 

    SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)

  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 
    1. Disengage the tape, 3 clips, 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.

  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 
  11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY UPPER 
    1. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
    2. Remove the bolt < B > and screw < I or J >.
    3. Disengage the 3 clips, claw and remove the instrument panel sub-assy upper then disconnect the connectors.

  12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL INSERT SUB-ASSY LOWER LH 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts < B >.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel sub-assy lower LH.

  13. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LWR NO.2 

    (See  OVERHAUL  ) 

  14. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER 

    (See OVERHAUL  ) 

  15. REMOVE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY 

    (See REPLACEMENT  ) 

  16. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSY 

    (See  REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  ) 

  17. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO.1 
    1. Using a screwdriver, lever up the 2 claws on the instrument panel safety pad sub-assy from inside of the registers.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel register assy No.1.

  18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO.3 
  19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 clips.
    2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy.

  20. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws < G or H >.
    2. Pull out the combination meter assy, then disconnect the connectors.

  21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSY NO.1 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and disconnect the connector.
    2. Disengage the pin and remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assy No.1.

  22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER 
    1. Remove the 3 screws < H > and 2 bolts < B >.
    2. Disengage the clip and remove the instrument panel sub-assy lower.

  23. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSY UPPER 
    1. Disengage the 4 clips.
    2. Pull out the console panel sub-assy, then disconnect the connectors.

  24. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER REAR 
    1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 clips and 2 claws.
    2. Remove the console panel upper rear with console panel upper front.

  25. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  26. REMOVE RR CONSOLE BOX 
    1. Remove the 2 bolt < C or D >, 2 screws < G >.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the console box assy rear, then disconnect the connector.

  27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL AND LH 
    1. Remove the screw < I or J >.
    2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the instrument panel end LH.

  28. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH 
  29. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 5 clips and 3 claws.
    2. Pull out the air conditioner control assembly, then disconnect the connectors.

  30. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY CENTER(W/ LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts.
    2. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy center with radio receiver assy, then disconnect the connectors.

  31. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER PANEL(W/O LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts.
    2. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips, 3 claws and remove the radio receiver panel with radio receiver assy, then disconnect the connectors.

  32. SHIP MODE CONFIRMATION(W/ CD CHANGER)(See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  33. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 
    1. Remove a part of the front door opening weather strip LH.
    2. Strongly press the positions where the special clips are used, and release the clips.
    3. Disengage the 2 clips and 2 claws, pull the front pillar garnish LH backward of the vehicle, and remove.
    4. Remove the clip is not reusable.

  34. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 
  35. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE 
  36. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR ( SEE REMOVAL  ) 
  37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD CAP 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the instrument panel safety pad cap.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  38. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts < A > < E >, 2 screws < F > < G > and nut < K >.
    2. Disconnect the connectors.
    3. Disengage the 2 pins and remove the instrument panel safety pad sub-assy.

  39. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING NO.2 
    1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 claws and remove the instrument cluster moulding No.2.

  40. REMOVE SWITCH HOLE BASE NO.1 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the switch hole base No.1.
  41. REMOVE GLOVE BOX LAMP ASSY 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the glove box lamp assy.
  42. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the automatic light control sensor.

    HINT:

    Tape the screwdriver tip, before use.

    NOTE: Do not pry the automatic light control sensor off from the upper position.

  43. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.2 
    1. Remove the screw < G > and side defroster nozzle duct No.2.
  44. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.1 
    1. Remove the screw < G > and side defroster nozzle duct No.1.
  45. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSY 
    1. Remove the 5 screws < G > and defroster nozzle assy.
  46. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.2 
    1. Remove the 2 screws < G > and heater to register duct No.2.
  47. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.1 
    1. Remove the 2 screws < G > and heater to register duct No.1.
  48. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.3 
    1. Remove the 2 screws < G > and heater to register duct No.3.
  49. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH NO.1 
  50. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE NO.1 
    1. Disengage the claw and remove the side defroster nozzle No.1.
  51. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE NO.2 
    1. Disengage the claw and remove the side defroster nozzle No.2.
  52. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN NO.1 
    1. Remove the 2 screws < G > and 2 instrument panel pin No.1.
  53. REMOVE INSTR PNL PASS L/DOOR AIR BAG ASSY 

    (See STEERING WHEEL PAD SWITCH  ) 

  54. INSTALL INSTR PNL PASS L/DOOR AIR BAG ASSY 

    (See  STEERING WHEEL PAD SWITCH  ) 

  55. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY 
    1. Install the bolt < E >.
      1. Torque:20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)

  56. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 
    1. Install the new special clip to front pillar garnish LH.
    2. Install the front pillar garnish LH to the body.

  60. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  61. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSY

  62. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSY 

  63. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
