Section 259 (Intake Air Control System): Inspection: 2AZ-FE

  1. INSPECTION INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER VALVE ASSY 
    1. Check the intake manifold runner valve.
      1. Check that intake manifold runner valve shaft is not rickety.

      NOTE: Do not adjust the screw.
    2. Check the intake manifold runner valve operation.
      1. Apply battery positive and negative voltages across the terminals.

        Standard: 

      2. Check that the intake manifold runner valve opens and closes smoothly.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the intake manifold runner valve assy.

      NOTE: Do not apply the battery voltage to the intake manifold runner valve for more than 1 minute.
    3. Check the resistance.
      1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

      Standard: 

      INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER VALVE TERMINALS RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      4 - 5 3.0 to 10 Ω at 20 °C (68 °F)

      If the result is not as specified, replace the intake manifold runner valve assy.
