Ignition Switch: Removal

The ignition switch attaches to the lock cylinder housing on the end opposite the lock cylinder. For ignition switch terminal and circuit identification, refer to SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS .

  1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
  2. Remove the Knee Blocker Airbag, (Refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ).
  3. Remove the Instrument Panel Center Bezel, (Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER BEZEL )
  4. Remove the 2 switch mounting nuts (Fig 1).

  5. Loosen the rear mounting nut (Fig 2).

  6. Slide the assembly rearward.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition Switch and SKREAM Module (Fig 3).
  8. Remove the interlock cable by depressing the locking tab and pulling straight out (Fig 4).

  9. Interlocking cable removed (Fig 5).

  10. Remove ignition switch mounting screws (Fig 6).

  11. Squeeze the 2 locking tabs to remove ignition switch from the lockhousing (Fig 6).
