Ignition Switch: Removal

The ignition switch attaches to the lock cylinder housing on the end opposite the lock cylinder. For ignition switch terminal and circuit identification, refer to SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect negative cable from battery.
- Remove the Knee Blocker Airbag, (Refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ).
- Remove the Instrument Panel Center Bezel, (Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER BEZEL )
- Remove the 2 switch mounting nuts (Fig 1).
- Loosen the rear mounting nut (Fig 2).
- Slide the assembly rearward.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition Switch and SKREAM Module (Fig 3).
- Remove the interlock cable by depressing the locking tab and pulling straight out (Fig 4).
- Interlocking cable removed (Fig 5).
- Remove ignition switch mounting screws (Fig 6).
- Squeeze the 2 locking tabs to remove ignition switch from the lockhousing (Fig 6).
