Commutator End Frame Assembly Test

- Using vernier calipers, measure the brush length. See Fig 1. Verify length is within specification. See STARTER SPECIFICATIONS . If the length is less than minimum, replace the starter commutator end frame assembly.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between the positive and negative brush holders. See Fig 2. Verify resistance is within specification. See STARTER SPECIFICATIONS . If resistance is not within specification, repair or replace the starter commutator end frame assembly.
