Draining & Refilling

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove engine under cover No. 2.
  3. Remove drain plug to drain fluid.
  4. If transaxle oil filter is to be changed, remove oil pan. See Fig 1. Remove oil filter and seal.
  5. Clean transaxle oil pan.
  6. Remove and clean the magnets in the pan of all metal particles.
  7. Install oil filter and seal.
  8. Install NEW pan gasket. See Fig 2.
  9. Install transaxle oil pan. Tighten bolts to specification.
  10. Install drain plug and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. With engine off, add new fluid through oil filler tube.
  12. Start engine and move gearshift lever through all positions.
  13. Place gearshift lever back into Park and check fluid level. Add fluid to bring level up to COOL mark on dipstick.
  14. Recheck fluid level when engine and transaxle reaches operating temperature of 158-176°F (70-80°C). Add fluid up to HOT mark on dipstick. See CHECKING FLUID LEVELS .
