Park/Neutral Position Switch: Installation

  1. Install PNP switch using the following steps:
    1. Install PNP switch and install bolt.
    2. Install new lock washer and nut.
    3. Stake nut with lock washer.
    4. Install shift lever with nut. See Fig 3.
  2. Connect PNP switch connector.
  3. Install front exhaust pipe. Follow reverse order of removal of front and center exhaust pipe in REMOVAL . When installing heated oxygen sensors, twist sensor wire 3 and 1/2 turns counterclockwise. After installation, the sensor wire should not be twisted. If so, remove sensor and reinstall it. Replace all used gaskets with new gaskets. Tighten all bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Check PNP switch operation. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  under ADJUSTMENTS.
